Why sprouted

Why do we sprout?

Sprouting is one of the oldest ways people have prepared grains and pulses. It is how every ingredient in Muraff is prepared — patiently, and with care.

How our flour is made, in five steps

  1. 01Soaking

We select good-quality grains and pulses and soak them carefully. This is where phytic acid, a natural compound that holds on to minerals, begins to break down.

  2. 02Sprouting

The grains sprout naturally, waking up the seed. Sprouting reduces phytic acid further, helping to free the vitamins and minerals inside.

  3. 03Drying

The sprouted grains are dried in a dehydrator at a controlled temperature, to help keep their nutrients intact.

  4. 04Roasting

A slow roast brings out a rich aroma and taste, and further reduces the anti-nutrients that remain.

  5. 05Milling

Finally, everything is hygienically ground into a smooth, fine flour that is ready to use.

Our story

A simpler way to eat better.

Modern life is busy. Most of us want food that is quick to put on the table — and that is fair.

But convenience often comes at the expense of thoughtful ingredients. Somewhere along the way, the quick option stopped looking much like the food we grew up with.

Muraff exists to bridge that gap. We take the patient habits of traditional kitchens — whole grains, pulses, sprouting — and fit them into the pace of a modern day. More care in what goes in. Fewer steps for you.
